Smithsonian Acquires Shepard Fairey's Hope Painting of Obama

The Hope painting that inspired many Barack Obama voters during the primaries and general election is on its way to the Smithsonian. Shepard Fairey is the artist behind the painting. Shepard Fairey's Hope painting will be on display in Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. on inauguration day.

The Smithsonian won't disclose how much they paid for the painting. Shepard has also designed the official Inauguaral Poster for President-elect Obama - you can see it here.
