Carly Rae Jepsen Tells Seventeen She Paid Her Band With Spaghetti
"Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen covers the March 2013 issue of Seventeen. In the interview, Carly talks about her many jobs in college,
plans to dye her hair and how she paid her band in spaghetti.
On Her College Jobs: "In college, there was a time when I felt lost and had the blues. I wanted to write songs, but I didn't know how to make a career out of it. But I also knew I'd be happy working eight minimum-wage jobs to try and pull it off. So I was doing every job imaginable to pay rent while I was pursuing this career. I guess I like the hunger of not knowing if things will ever work out."
On Her Desire to be a Red Head: "I want to dye my hair red. I've had red hair before and loved it. It was probably my favorite. But it's one of those things where you have to be in a really fiery mood to take it on and right now I'm digging what's going on [with my dark hair]. I'm a little darker, but eventually red will work."
On How She Used to Pay Her Band: "I'm still with the same crew and band as when I would say, 'Listen, I can't really pay too much for rehearsal today, so I made some spaghetti if you want to eat it.' We're still on the road together now."
