C. Wonder to Close All Stores

Posted on January 7, 2015

C. Wonder is closing all of its stores. The retail chain carried clothing, accessories, home good and other items. The company has about 30 store locations, including two in the United Arab Emirates and one in Kuwait.

There were rumors last month that C. Wonder would be shuttering stores. Those rumors have now been confirmed. Forbes reports that C. Wonder's employees (about 100) were called to a meeting and informed of the closure.

C. Wonder spokesperson Daniela Maron also told Forbes, "Due to the highly competitive nature of the current retail environment, C. Wonder will be closing its remaining stores. The company continues to evaluate its best alternative to maintain the C. Wonder experience for its customers."

The C. Wonder website is still operational. It is currently running a 50% off sitewide sale. The website does not say when the sale ends.

C. Wonder was founded by designer Tory Burch's ex-husband Chris Burch in 2011. There are suggestions that he founded the company out of revenge. The stores carry items similar to Tory Burch's but at lower prices. Tory Burch LLC even sued C. Wonder in 2012 calling it a "knock-off brand." Tory is getting the last laugh now with C. Wonder's closure.

Here's a video about the C Wonder brand from Forbes.
