Burpee Home Gardens has announced the launch of its Grow Anywhere Tour. The Burpee tour truck will hit the road to travel over 10,000 miles and deliver 30,000 pounds of fresh produce and 13,000 vegetable plants. The stops on the tour are areas known as food deserts, where people have limited access to fresh produce.
Scott Mozingo, product manager at Burpee Home Gardens, said in a statement, "By digging in and helping these communities explore the basics of gardening, we're demonstrating that you don't need an acre of land or the expertise of a master gardener to grow your own vegetables. All you really need is a container with soil, access to water and a sunny location, and you can grow anywhere."
The tour will also share gardening information as it stops in schools in 25 cities. Students and school staff have been voting since January to be selected as a stop on the our. A map and calendar of the tour can be found here.
