Posted on March 15, 2010

Italian restaurant chain Buca di Beppo prepared the world's largest bowl of spaghetti this weekend at its restaurant located in Anaheim, California. The fifteen foot diameter bowl contained 13,786-pounds of freshly made spaghetti. The enormous bowl was filled via a "bucket brigade" of Buca employees. Six chefs supervised the food preparation and production of the enormous spaghetti bowl that also included more than 100 gallons of marinara sauce.

The previous world record for the largest bowl of pasta was 9,767 pounds, set by Wataniya Restaurants-Sbarro on March 28, 2009 in Doha, Qatar located in the Persian Gulf.

To commemorate the massive achievement, Buca di Beppo restaurants celebrated by offering free spaghetti to all guests who purchased a Buca Large or Buca Small pasta or entree. Buca also matched it with a donation of uncooked pasta to various homeless charities with a minimum donation of 10,000 lbs of uncooked pasta.
