Bowl Purchased at Yard Sale Sells for Over $2 Million
A bowl purchased for $3 at a yard sale was later sold for $2.2 million at a Sotheby's auction. The bowl, purchased in 2007, sat in the buyer's living room before they got curious and had the bowl's value assessed by a professional. The bowl turned out to be a rare 1,000 year old Chinese 'Ding' bowl from the Northern Song Dynasty. CNN reports that only other known bowl of the same size, form and decoration is at the British Museum in London. The bowl was purchased by Giuseppe Eskenazi, a London dealer, following competitive bidding at the auction. Take a look:
