Engadget reports that there will indeed be a price drop on the Nintendo Wii. A price cut was expected after Sony lowered its Sony PlayStation 3 price. However, a recent statement by Nintendo made the Wii price cut unclear. Now the word is the price drop will occur this month, September 27th.
The rumors were true, and Nintendo's knight in shining armor is finally about to see its first-ever price drop. For nearly three years now, the console has sold briskly at $249.99, but beginning on September 27th at Best Buy (and everywhere else, naturally), the happy-go-lucky machine will be offered for just $199.99.
A 20% price drop is significant and it will help Nintendo make sure the Wii is once again the hottest selling console this holiday season.
