Beyonce Wins Video of the Year, Calls Taylor Swift on Stage

Posted on September 14, 2009

Beyonce won the Video of the Year at the VMAs for her hit music video, "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." When Beyonce was accepting the award she called Taylor Swift on stage, because she wanted Taylor to be able to "have her moment."

It was a generous act by Beyonce following Kanye West's incredibly rude interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video earlier in the night. Beyonce talked about how much a VMA award had meant to her when she was 17 and singing with Destiny's Child.

In a classy display of selflessness, Taylor Swift got a do-over at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when Beyonce brought the teen singer up following B's Video of the Year win.

Beyonce told the audience about her first VMA win as a 17-year-old with Destiny's Child and how much it meant to her. The singer then called Swift from backstage to huge applause.

Taylor Swift came on stage and said, "Maybe we can try this again." Fortunately, Kanye West wasn't around to grab the microphone from her this time.

"Maybe we can try this again," Swift said, drawing a laugh.

"I would really like to thank Roman White, who directed the video, and Lucas Till for being in it," Swift said. "I would like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone that came out to my shows this summer. And I would like to thank my little brother's high school for letting us shoot there."

Kanye West has blogged an all-caps apology for interrupting Taylor's acceptance speech but he will have to do much more than just a lame blog post to win forgiveness from fans. There has been a giant Twitter storm of outrage against Kanye West tonight ever since the incident.

Here's Beyonce's acceptance speech which she shared with Taylor Swift. Take a look:
