Posted on September 9, 2008

Footwear designer Beverly Feldman has opened her private shoe museum at her design studio in the south of Spain. Feldman says her collection of over 1,500 shoes is a 200 year iconography of the shoe industry.

The museum focuses on highly embellished footwear including Native American, Indian, African, French and late 19th century Chinese beaded and embroidered shoes. The colleciton includes rare pair of Western style Chinese shoes made for bound feet, which measure a mere 4". The museum also includes a Beverly Feldman wing with highlights from her career. Samples from Beverly's museum can be found in the Dutch Leather and Shoe Museum located in Waalwijk, Netherlands and Shoe Icons; Virtual Shoe Museum in Moscow, Russia.

Beverly Feldman said, "I have a very special feeling for vintage shoes and the women who wore them and the adventures they had in them. They tell silent stories. Those women had some great times over the last 120 years, flirting, dancing, laughing, and making love in all of these shoes that I have saved."

Beverly Feldman has been designing shoes for nearly 40 years. Her shoes have appeared on Oprah, Sex in the City, The Tyra Banks Show and many others shows as well as in the leading fashion magazines.

Note: She also has a book out called Too Much Is Not Enough about her shoe business, love affairs, shopping and more.
