Forbesreports that Samsung plans to heavily promote its new DualView cameras this fall. Commercials will feature girls and gorillas taking photos of themselves. The big feature of the cameras is that it makes it easy to take a photograph of yourself. Samsung's two DualView Cameras - the new TL225 and TL220 - contain a front LCD that lets you see exactly what the camera sees. Forbes says Samsung is spending $50 million on its DualView campaign.
Samsung Electronics is spending some $50 million on a year-long ad blitz to promote its new DualView cameras that give consumers an easy way to take self portraits--they have a display screen in the front and one in the back. The company, a subsidiary of the Korean electronics giant, is partnering with retail chains, such as Best Buy and B&H, to push its new touchscreen cameras (priced between $300 and $350) into consumers' hands. The campaign, which rolls out Sept. 17, includes print and online ads. TV spots will air on cable and broadcast TV networks such as NBC, CBS and Fox until the end of October, when holiday ads with retailers will begin.
Teens and young adults who use social networks are the target of the DualView cameras. Some social network users like to create new profile pics for their social network profiles. iJustine recently made a funny parody of Black Eyed Peas hit, "I Gotta Feeling," about how young adults like to create new profile pics. This camera's feature promises to make the self-images used in profile pics easier, so it should be popular with social network users.
