Video: Chris Brown Says He Doesn't Remember Hitting Rihanna
Chris Brown sat down with Larry King for his first interview since his conviction in the Rihanna assault case. Chris appeared with his mother and his attorney. Chris tells Larry that he doesn't even remember hitting Rihanna, which is just so lame. Many witnesses have said that Chris and Rihanna had a history of violent altercations. Chris is tightly on script: clearly he's had excellent coaching.
Brown still loves Rihanna. He tells King he's still in love with her. Even tougher for him is looking at the photo. You know the one—the image that might haunt, and define Brown forever. "When I look at it now, it's just like, wow, like, I can't -- I can't believe that -- that actually happened." He adds he does not remember performing the violent acts that have changed his life.

"I just need to prove to people I can be a role model," Brown says. "That's not who I am as a person, and that's not who I promise I want to be," the singer laments. It's been a couple of months since he saw Rihanna, and admits the separation has been "difficult."
He's sad when asked about her dating other men. "I definitely would be affected by it, but, at the end of the day, I mean, we're not together, so, if she's happy, I'm cool." Would he be with her now if things had been different that night? Brown says only, "We'll always be friends."
The Tour of Shame and Rehabilitation of Chris Brown has begun. They've hired expensive consultants to help him get back in the public's good graces. In big trials, jury consultants dress the main witnesses. Look at what he's wearing: a sweater and a giant bow tie. He looks like Pee Wee Herman, for Pete's sake. The message they are sending is that he wouldn't hurt a fly. The color blue denotes honesty (you'll never see a witness in a big case wear a green tie because surveys reveal green denotes dishonesty to most people).
Remember John Edwards? Before he became a candidate for Worst Husband of 2008-2009, he said he always wore a blue tie when he talked to a jury. Edwards won huge verdicts and was a very successful trial lawyer before he became a senator. Apparently, Chris Brown's handlers are hoping the same tricks will work for him. Color us not impressed.
The full interview airs on Larry King Live on CNN on Wednesday night. Here's a clip from the interview:
Update: After fury from Rihanna fans over his idiotic statement that he didn't remember beating up Rihanna, Chris Brown now says that he does remember beating up Rihanna, after all. We suppose he had to clarify his earlier statements, because people were beginning to wonder if he was suffering from some kind of alcohol or drug-related memory loss. That's not the kind of speculation you want when you're trying to rehabilitate your image.
