Supermodel Carol Alt -- who appeared on 700 magazine covers during her career -- has left behind her catwalk days to write fiction. Her new book is This Year's Model, set in the world of high fashion. The book follows a young girl as she tries to make it as a high fashion model in New York. To promote the book, Carol and her publisher, Avon, have launched a contest to find the cover model for her second book, will will be published in 2009. From now until November 20, 2008, potential cover girls from 16 to 25 years of age can submit photos to the contest feature page at here.

On November 21, the judges will announce the 4 top Next Year's Model entrants. Fans will vote on the winner who will be awarded a professional photo shoot, a meet-and-greet with a top modeling agency, and a wardrobe prize from Lord & Taylor. The winner will also be featured on Carol's next book,
Next Year's Model which will be released in 2009.
