The above image is a proposed hotel, conference and exhibition complex that will be the gateway to the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. A Norwegian architect firm named Snohetta will be designing the futuristic looking gateway. The gateway will act as the entrance to the city and will form a landmark to the city entrance. Ras Al-Khaimah is located in the desert about 150 kilometers east of Dubai. PBS has a documentary about the city in the desert called The Sand Castle.
