Kristen Johnston to Star on Ugly Betty, Not Paula Abdul
US Magazinereports that plans for Paula Abdul to appear on Ugly Betty fell through. Instead it will be actress Kristen Johnston playing a crazy new office temp named Helen.
Johnston is replacing the ex-Idol judge in the recurring role of Helen -- Mode's crazy new office temp -- after contract negotiations fell through, reportedly due to her long list of demands. (Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news, says she wanted a private jet.)
We find it hard to believe Paula Abdul demanded a private jet. Something else must have gone wrong. Kristen Johnston's role as Helen will begin with the Ugly Betty season premiere on October 9th.
Kristen Johnston is a funny actress and we look forward to the next season. Kristen told EW, "I've always considered myself a poor man's Paula Abdul."
