Matt Lauer Talks to Lizzi Miller About Nude Glamour Photo
Plus-size model Lizzi Miller had a small nude photo in the September issue of Glamour. The photograph was on page 194 but it still got everyone's attention and a great deal of positive feedback. Matt Lauer talked to Lizzi Miller and Glamour editor Cindi Leive about the photo and what it means for women and for the fashion industry. Cindi Leive says the positive reaction to the photo could be a game changer for the fashion industry.
The response was so large and effusive that Glamour editor Cindi Leive says Miller is proving to be a game changer when it comes to fashion magazines -which often pay lip service to the idea of representing all women, but usually opt for the carrot-sticks-and-cigarettes, skin-and-bones types when it comes to cover girls.
"I think it absolutely will," Leive told Matt Lauer on TODAY Monday. "You get a reaction like this and you can really see it. It's also a sign of the times that women are really looking for a little bit more authenticity and a little bit less artifice in every part of their lives.
"Will it change our approach? I think it will."
Lizzi Miller says she wasn't that enthralled with the photo when she first saw it. She said, "I'm just like every other girl who has insecurities," she said. "The first thing I thought was, 'OK, not the most flattering picture.'"
