My Keepon Robot Going Mass Market for the Holidays

Posted on August 22, 2011

The My Keepon robot became famous in a video that shows the robot dancing to the song "I Turn My Camera On" by the band Spoon. The original robot was developed by Hideki Kozima and programmed by Marek Michalowski. Four years later the little yellow dancing robot is ready to be sold to consumers as a toy.

Bloomberg Businessweek reports that Toys R Us has the exclusive rights to sell My Keepon. The robot, originally designed as a therapeutic tool for autistic children, will be sold in Toys R Us stores this holiday season. The toy will retail for under $50 and will be backed up with a big marketing campaign. It could be one of this holiday's hot toys.
