Video Game Sales Fell Slightly in July

The Wall Street Journal reports that video game sales fell slightly in July according to data from the NPD Group. July game sales overall fell about 1% compared to the previous year. This was the fourth straight negative month for video game sales. For hardware, the Xbox 360 was the top selling console in July. Below is a list of the top ten selling video games in July.

  • LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Warner Bros, Nintendo DS) -- 141,700
  • Red Dead Redemption (Take 2, Xbox 360)
  • LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Warner Bros., Wii)
  • Dragon Quest IX (Nintendo, DS)
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo, Wii)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision Blizzard, Xbox 360)
