Charlie Sheen Escapes Jail Time

There's a reason Charlie Sheen looks so happy in this video walking into the courthouse to face sentencing over the domestic violence incident last Christmas. He has excellent attorneys. He plead guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault in connection with the Christmas Day argument with his wife in Aspen, Colorado, and was sentenced to 30 days in a rehabilitation center, 30 days of probation and 36 hours of anger management. The prosecutors dropped the felony charge of menacing.

Charlie has a criminal record in California. In December 1996, he was accused of beating up his girlfriend. He plead no contest and got two years probation. In 1998, he overdosed on cocaine and went to the hospital. His dad, Martin Sheen, turned him into his parole office to help save his life. He was ordered to rehab. And of course we all know the Heidi Fleiss prostitution ring story.

Lindsay Lohan, on the other hand, didn't pull a knife, hit or threaten to kill anyone. She got jail time plus 90 days in a lockdown rehab, plus drug and alcohol monitoring. She did drive under the influence, which could have hurt someone. But why is a violent repeat offender given a lighter sentence? Take a look:
