Funny People was funny enough to take the number one box office spot for the weekend but failed to meet box office expectation. It made just $23.4 million which was less than the opening weekends for Judd Apatow's Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin films. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came in second and added $17.7 million taking its box office gross past $255 million. G-Force and The Ugly Truth came in third and fourth. The family comedy, Aliens in the Attic, opened in fifth and made $7.8 million.
Julie & Julia, Shorts, A Perfect Getaway and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra are the films opening this coming weekend.
