Organic Beef is a Hot Item

Interest in organic beef is climbing thanks to the first confirmed case of mad cow disease in the United States. Scientists think mad cow (or BSE - bovine spongiform encephalopathy) is spread when cattle consume infected bone meal (from other cattle). Beef with the certified organic label comes from cows that have been fed only vegetarian protein. This should make the organic beef more attractive to consumers while concerns remain about standard beef products.
