GameStop has launched a casual digital store at gamestop.com/casual. The store is powered by Real Networks. At launch the store includes titles like Plants Vs. Zombies, Scrabble and Diner Dash. Some of the titles are currently 50% off as part of a launch special. Customers can also pre-order selected PC game titles from GameStop's new store.
Gamasutra reports that GameStop believes its physical stores will still drive the bulk of game sales for many years. They have 6,200 stores worldwide.
GameStop has repeatedly said that it's confident that the physical retail business will make up the large majority of game sales for years to come, despite the rapid rise of digital distribution. The company lays claim to 6,200 physical stores worldwide.
