Beach Pollution is Still a Widespread Problem in U.S.
Kelly Wallace reports for CBS News about a new study that found the dirtiest beaches in the U.S. are predominantly in the Northeast and Florida. However, the problem is widespread and every coastal state has a beach pollution problem according to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) report. The main pollutant for dirty beaches is dirty runoff following storms. Polluted beaches can cause ailments like stomach flu, diarrhea, skin rashes and pink eye. Kelly Wallace says environmentalists also warn that the sand can be just as dirty as the water. Take a look:
