Swine Flu More Dangerous For Pregnant Women

There is much concern about the impact of the H1N1 swine flu on pregnant women. Several pregnant women have already died in the U.S. from the novel flu virus. The National Childbirth Trust in England has gone so far as to warn women to delay pregnancy until the swine flu pandemic has passed. The CDC has set up an informational page about H1N1 and pregnancy here.

Dr. Jennifer Ashton spoke with Harry Smith about the heightened flu danger for pregnant women. She says it isn't just H1N1 but any influenza can be more dangerous for pregnant women. The advice is to avoid the virus, which is easier said than done. Pregnant women should also get the vaccine as soon as it is available. Take a look:
