Oil Sheikh Has Name Carved in Sand in Huge Letters, Visible From Space
Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan - an extremely wealthy member of the Abu Dhabi ruling family - had his name "Hamad" carved into the sand of Al Futaisi, one of the islands he owns. The writing is so huge it is visible from space. You can see how the writing looks on satellite data from Google Earth below.
