There has still been no official announcement that Peter Jackson is directing The Hobbit, but since Deadline says it's happening and that Peter has been in Los Angeles watching audition tapes, we are cautiously optimistic. And this latest piece of news makes us even more optimistic. Peter reportedly just
purchased a $50 million Gulfstream G550. He's upgrading from his old Gulfstream which had to refuel once between Australia and Los Angeles. The G550 can go the distance without refueling.
Jackson's reps won't confirm the type of jet or how it's tricked out, but the G550 has all kinds of cool features, including its own wireless network, to satellite communications, beds, bathrooms, 100% fresh air, a full galley and, well, you get the idea. When asked what was the best perk about being super wealthy, Oprah Winfrey said it was flying by private jet, no question.
Reportedly, Jackson has his guests show up in pajamas for overnight flights. Works for us.
