Video: Chief Engineer of Deepwater Horizon Testifies Fire Alarms Were Inhibited
Well, this is disturbing. The chief engineer on the Deepwater Horizon tells a government panel from the Department of the Interior that warning systems on the drilling rig were "inhibited" because the crew did not want to be disturbed in the middle of the night with false alarms. So, there were alarms in place for fire or combustion, but the audio was turned off. The computer got the alarm, but the crew never heard it. Nice. Take a look:
