Woman Sues American Airlines After It Loses Her Bag and Refuses to Refund Baggage Fee
ABC Newsreports that American Airlines has been sued $5 million for refusing to refund the $25 baggage fee after they lost a woman's luggage.
George Hobica, creator of airfarewatchdog.com, told ABC News, "It just goes to show you how enraged people are by the lack of common-sense regulation in the airline industry. It doesn't make any sense at all that somebody should charge for a service and then screw up and not give you your money back."
It does seem like common sense that you should not have to pay a baggage fee if your bag never makes it to the destination. The ABC News article says American Airlines "damages, loses or delays more than 2,400 pieces of luggage every day." Trying to get reimbursed for your lost items can be a nightmare.
