Duchess of Cambridge Wears Diane Von Furstenberg Silk Dress to Evening Reception in L.A.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wound up their first day in Los Angeles with a reception in the honor at the British Consul-General's house in Hancock Park, where the couple are staying. Catherinelooked lovely in a green silk "Maja" dress by Diane Von Furstenberg, and carried a Lytton Spotted Leopard Convertible Clutch, also by Diane Von Furstenberg. Diane tweeted, "Beautiful Duchess of Cambridge in DVF... We love her! Love DVF." The Duchess is here in the U.S. to promote British trade interests, so she was expected to wear mostly British designers. For her to choose an American designer was a lovely -- and surprising -- gesture on her part.
Guests at the reception included David Beckham, Stephen Fry, California Governor Jerry Brown, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the Chancellor of UCLA, the president of USC and a number of business and entertainment leaders.
The menu for the evening sounded quite delicious, with a selection of hors d'ouevres which included some heartier items for those that skipped dinner.
Dishes included cheese, leek and onion mini quiche; chicken and mushroom bouchees; chipolata sausages; "devils on horseback" (bacon-wrapped prunes); endive with smoke salmon tartare; figs with goat cheese and prosciutto; parmesan scallion crostini with pear; Stilton tartlets with apricot chutney; Welsh rarebit; and Yorkshire puddings with roast beef and horseradish sauce.
