Roberto Cavalli Shakira Closing Ceremony Costume Sketch

Roberto Cavalli has designed Shakira's costume for the closing ceremony of the 2010 World Cup on July 11th. A sketch of the closing ceremony design is pictured above. The outfit includes a tulle top fully embroidered of multicolor pearls, a silk fringed skirt with floreal motifs and animalier print, a denim belt embroidered with African style pearls and leather bracelets with floreal silk applications. Cavalli also designed Shakira's costume for the opening ceremony.

Shakira will perform her song, "Waka Waka," at the closing ceremony. She also sang "Waka Waka" to kick off the 2010 World Cup. Shakira says, "I am honoured that 'Waka Waka' was chosen to be part of the excitement and the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The soccer World Cup is a miracle of global excitement, connecting every country, race, religion and condition around a single passion."
