The Wall Street Journalreports that Bebe Stores Inc. is closing ints PH8 chain. All 48 PH8 store will be closed.
Meanwhile, the closing of the 48-store PH8, which is known for edgy streetwear and workout apparel, comes as retailers are giving less time to developing new brands in the current retail environment. 2b, meanwhile, is an outlet concept and such lower-price locations have been a growth point for retailers. Some of the PH8 stores could be converted into 2b.
Bebe says it currently operates 297 stores, of which 213 are bebe stores, 48 are PH8 stores, 35 are 2b bebe stores and 1 is a bebe accessories store. After the PH8 stores close, the retailer will be left with 249 stores.
