Rupert Grint Talks About His Bout With Swine Flu

Actor Rupert Grint says it was "quite scary" when he first learned he had swine flu. The Harry Potter star was fortunate to suffer from a "mild" case of the H1N1 swine flu virus that is making its way around the globe. Rupert Grint says he was in bed for a few days as he recovered.
Grint described contracting the A(H1N1) virus, which has spread around the world, as "quite scary" but he recovered after spending a few days in bed.

"It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu," he said at a press conference with other Potter actors including Emma Watson in London.

"I thought 'Am I going to die?' But it was just like any other flu really."

"I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days."
Harry Potter fans are relieved the actor, who plays Ron Weasley, is healthy again. Some of the tweets on Twitter revealed shock that Rupert Grint was ill with swine flu. There is no immunity so tens of millions of young people are going to get sick. Rupert Grint's illness may help to bring this reality home to many people. While most will have "mild" symptoms like Rupert Grint, there have and will be more severe cases and deaths even among healthy young adults. The Globe and Mail recently reported that most of the swine flu hospitalizations in Canada have been healthy young people with no underlying health symptoms.

The latest case count from the World Health Organization is 94,512 confirmed cases and 429 deaths.
