Bloomingdales Recalls Bathrobes After Woman's Robe Burst Into Flames

Photo of recalled bathrobe

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in cooperation with Bloomingdales is recalling 8600 women's bathrobes that turned out to be highly flammable. One woman experienced a flaming bathrobe, but we don't know if she's okay or not. We certainly hope so.

The bathrobes failed to meet flammability standards for clothing textiles under federal law. The importer is Christy, of Charlotte, N.C. The bathrobes were made in Turkey.

The bathrobes are described as wrap style with long sleeves and a belt. They are made from 100 percent cotton terry cloth in aqua, ivory, white and porcelain pink. A woven label at the neck edge of the robes read "Collection Fifty Nine".

If you bought such a bathrobe at Bloomingdale's between from January 2008 through March 2010 for about $80, stop using it immediately and return it to Bloomingdale's. You can also call Christy's at (800) 261-6326.
