Mattel is launching a new franchise called Monster High. This new franchise targets teen and tween girls. The franchise, focused on the world of Frankie Stein and her freakishly fashionable friends, will include books, movies, webisodes, apparel, toys and more. Mattel's Monster High partners include Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, best-selling author Lisi Harrison, Universal Pictures, Justice and Party City.

Mattel is clearly expecting a big hit with Monster High as they are launching products in all categories. In media entertainment we have a novel, animated special, movie and webisodes. The debut novel, Monster High, will go on sale September 1, 2010. A date has not been set for the film from Universal Pictures. A 30-minuted animated Monster High special featuring music from American Idol star Allison Iraheta will be available this fall.

Mattel will also offer Monster High apparel and accessories. These will include clothes, socks, slippers, jewelry, wigs, back to school products and Halloween costumes. There will also be plenty of toys, including a line of fashion dolls. Other toys will include plush toys, electronics and novelty toys.

The Monster High website, monsterhigh.com, introduces the world of Frankie Stein. The site will feature webisodes, games and activities.
