Nakheel and the Trump Organization have announced plans to build the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Dubai on the Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island in the Arabian Gulf. The 62-story, stainless steel and glass building will be the tallest structure on Palm Jumeirah. It is expected to be completed in summer 2011.
The property will be comprised of two freestanding towers that straddle the centerline of Palm Jumeirah. The towers stand on a four-story bisected podium structure converging at the 40th-floor to create the building's glazed diamond shaped pinnacle. The building will offer residents and guests a panoramic view of the Arabian Gulf. The building also includes two expansive penthouse residences designed by Kelly Hoppen.
To celebrate the project, Trump and Nakheel also commissioned LEGO brick artist Nathan Sawaya to build a 14-foot replica of the building in New York City's Columbus Circle.
This is far from the only building project being planned for Dubai. The city has become the place for futuristic Architectural marvels. Other projects planned for Dubai include a skyscraper with revolving floors and a robotic Jurassic Park.
