The Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journalreports that some Best Buy stores are going to start selling Brammo bikes. Brammo's $12,000 Enertia model will be the first Brammo bike to go on sale. It's a plug-in electric that has a range of 45 miles.
The Richfield retailer is embracing the e-bike concept, preparing to begin selling next month an electric motorcycle made by Brammo.
Powered bicycles made by Currie Technologies and Ultra Motors also are planned, according to a report in Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.
The Brammo bikes - which resemble a small motorcycle and can reach speeds of 50 mph - will go on sale July 6 at a Best Buy location in Portland, Ore., as part of a test-marketing effort, said John Farris, a spokesman for Brammo. Further West Coast Best Buy locations will follow.
Brammo's website can be found here. Auto Blog Green says Best Buy is also the official sponsor for the Brammo Enertia TTXGP race team. You can read more about Brammo and Best Buy here, here and here.
