Net-a-Porter to Launch Menswear Site Called Mr. Porter
The Telegraphreports that Net-a-Porter is expanding into menswear. The company plans to launch a separate online menswear store called Mr. Porter. The store will carry apparel from over 60 top menswear brands.
The more than 60 top menswear brands to be featured include Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Lanvin, YSL, Gucci, Margiela, Balmain, Dunhill, Margaret Howell, Rick Owens, John Lobb and MR by the designer, Roland Mouret.
The menswear launch comes ten years to the day after net-a-porter was founded by the former journalist, Natalie Massenet. Earlier this year, she sold her remaining stake in the luxury online shopping destination to the Richemont Group for £50 million.
Mr. Porter is not expected to launch until January, 2011. The website currently displays an "opening for business soon" message. WWDreports that Net-a-Porter has also talked about a children's clothing site. The company owns the Petit-a-porter and Net-a-Beaute domain names.
