John Edwards: I Did Wrong, But I Did Not Break the Law
Former Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards appeared before the press with his daughter Cate after he was indicted for six felony counts of using campaign contributions to hide his affair with Rielle Hunter.
Edwards said he did wrong and takes full responsibility for the pain he caused, but that he did not break the law, nor did he think he was breaking the law.

The case against Edwards has some problems: no one has ever tried to prosecute someone on the theory that gifts given directly to the candidate for a private use would be considered campaign contributions. One of the gift givers is dead, and the other (heiress Bunny Mellon) is 100 years old.
