Up Floats to the Top of the Box Office

Up

There was plenty of air in Pixar's Up to lift it to the number one slot this weekend. The movie was loved by critics who nearly all gave the film a positive review. The film made $68 million to become the tenth hit for Pixar.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian had a strong second week and made another $25.5 million. Director Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell - which was also liked by critics - opened in third. The horror film took in $16.6 million. Terminator Salvation slipped in its second week but still made another $16 million.

Positive word-of-mouth continues to propel Star Trek. In its fourth week Star Trek made another $12.8 million. It is the first film to gross over $200 million in 2009. Angels & Demons came in sixth and added another $11 million to its growing box office total of $104 million.
