The Hangover Part II Dominates Box Office With Record Opening
The Hangover Part II dominated the weekend box office with an $86,480,000 take. This was a record weekend for a live-action comedy. Box Office Mojo reports that this was also the second best weekend opening for an R-rated movie. Kung Fu Panda 2 also scored big this weekend. It opened with $48 million. On Stranger Tides made another $39 million in its second weekend in theaters to take its total over the $150 million mark.
Bridesmaids continues to hold strongly. It was only down 21% from the prior week. Bridesmaids made another $16.3 million to bring its box office total to nearly $85 million. Bridesmaids was followed by Thor, Fast Five and Midnight in Paris. You can see the complete box office report here.
