Dr. Maya Angelou Talks About Her Healthy Eating Cookbook
Good Morning America's Robin Roberts sits down with Dr. Maya Angelou to talk about her cookbook, Great Food, All Day Long: Cook Splendidly, Eat Smart. Dr. Angelou is 83 and has lost 50 pounds by making lighter versions of her favorite family recipes. She is a lifelong cook and says portion control is the key to weight loss. She says she eats reasonable portions of delicious food prepared with love. She even wrote a poem about dieting, which is pretty funny. Most of her recipes are kid-friendly, and there are a number of vegetarian options.
Dr. Angelou says it's important
to have respect for the ingredients.
She says that presentation is also very important.
She says her book is full of tips about making food
really wondrous. Rushing doesn't work, she says.
You need to take time to really prepare wonderful food.
She also says to be a serious
cook, you must dare things.
Her mantra is "cooking splendidly,
and eating smart." She says
for your health and the health
of your children, you need to
start yesterday.
