Angels & Demons won the weekend box office with a strong $48 million opening. The opening was smaller than The Da Vinci Code's $77 million opening but Angels & Demons also took in a staggering $104 million overseas. Star Trek looks on pace to soon become the top grossing film of the year. Star Trek made $43 million in its second weekend. Star Trek is also doing well internationally - it has already made more overseas than any other Star Trek film. The movie has both great reviews from critics and good word-of-mouth from fans.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine made another $14.8 million to come in third. Ghosts of Girlfriends Past was in fourth with $6.8 millon. Obsession, 17 Again and Monsters Vs. Aliens continue to linger in the top six.
Next week two potential blockbusters - Terminator Salvation and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian - open, so the top films are likely to change.
