What a great idea! Apple, through its iTunes store, is offering lots of free podcasts from museums across the U.S. The podcasts are guided tours of various exhibitions from the museums. Museums which are participating in the program include
the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York, Art Institute of Chicago, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Pictured is Jill Neppel of San Francisco listening to an iPod guided tour at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's "Picasso and American Art" exhibit which closes May 28th.
This is such a useful thing: it's so nice not to have to rent an audioguide at the museum. Not to get all Adrian Monk on you or anything, but seriously -- who knows what germs lurk in those multi-user earphones? We'd rather download the audioguide before we go and walk through the exhibit with our own iPod, blissfully listening to our own guided tour.
