Best Buy Opens Its First UK Store

Posted on May 8, 2010

Best Buy recently opened its very first store in the U.K. The massive 50,000 square foot space was opened April 30th in West Thurrock Retail Park, Essex. Like the U.S. stores, the U.K. store also sells electronics, games, home appliances, movies and music.

The new U.K. store included a designated green area, called GreenTech, that sells electric cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles.

Unfortunately, Best Buy did not make it long in the UK. They lasted only a couple years. CNBC explains why they survived in the U.S. but failed in the UK.
