The BBC is reporting that Mohammed Al Fayed has sold the iconic Harrods department store in London to Qatar Holdings for $2.2 billion.
Owner Mohammed Al Fayed has agreed to sell the exclusive west London store to Qatar Holdings.
The deal was signed in the early hours of 8 May and should be announced within the next few hours, BBC business correspondent Joe Lynam said.
The BBC says there were rumors Harrod's was up for sale in March but staff were assured at the time that the store was not for sale. The Telegraphsays 15 million customers pass through the Harrods' doors each year.
