Mary J. Blige Talks New Fragrance, My Life

Ad for My Life by Mary J. Blige


Mary J. Blige has entered the celebrity fragrance market with her new fragrance, My Life, which she created with Carol's Daughter. WWD reports that Mary named the new fragrance after her hit recording of the same name. She says that the scent is a tribute to her fans who stuck with her during her most tumultuous years. WWD chatted with Mary on the set of the photoshoot for her new ad campaign. She talked about what the fragrance means to her:
"So it's a special tribute to us as women. My fans and I are smart now. We know we're smart now, but we didn't know it then. We know we're beautiful now, we didn't know it then. We're educated now, we didn't know it then. We're soft, we're edgy -- we're all those things. And I wanted this perfume to represent every female's everyday life."
My life has top notes of gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia. The heart is tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower. The drydown features cashmere woods, praline, sesame and incense. It will be priced at $46 for 1.7 oz. My Life will launch exclusively on HSN on July 31.
