Steve Jobs: No Mac App Store

MacStories reports that Steve Jobs responded to a question from Mac developer Fernando Valente about whether or not Apple was planning to launch a Mac App store.

Steve Jobs emailed back a one word replay. His reply was "Nope." There really isn't a need for a Mac App Store. Apps are popular for smartphones because it isn't very easy to surf the web with a smartphone. For devices that have larger screens and powerful processors it is easier to just use a web browser to get the information you need. It is possible that app stores may not be as needed on tablets as they are on smartphones. If tablets are powerful enough and the web browser can handle people's information needs quickly and efficiently then people won't need to download as many apps.
