The Sunreports
that Kate Moss recently endured a truly awful pedicure. Reports say she contracted a fungal infection from a nail salon in Chinatown in New York City. The Sun says Kate normally books her manicures and pedicures at the five star hotels where she stays, but this time she decided pop into some random salon. That turned out to be a big mistake.
Kate Moss has been forced off the booze because she's been prescribed powerful antibiotics to fight a nasty fungal infection on a foot.
The clothes horse picked up the painful condition in her big toe after a dodgy pedicure in New York.
And the supermodel is cursing her luck as she was hoping to get stuck in this weekend at the Coachella Festival in California, where boyfriend Jamie Hince is starring with The Kills.
A source said: "Kate fancied a little pampering when she went to New York for the launch of her clothing range in Topshop. She normally uses beauty salons in the five-star hotels she stays in but she decided to pop into a parlour in Chinatown. She regrets the decision now as the nail on her big toe on her right foot has turned yellow and has become really thick and ugly."
"She is certain she caught a fungal infection from the cheap salon.
She's really annoyed as she was looking forward to wearing open-toe sandals now that the weather is heating up. But she's going to have to keep her feet undercover for a little longer."
Okay, first off, antibiotics are not prescribed for a fungal infection. There are anti-fungal prescription creams and a prescription drug in pill form called Diflucan for nail fungus. If she contracted a bacterial infection, then antibiotics could be prescribed. So, perhaps she caught both? You can pick up a nasty bacterial infection from unsterilized nail implements.
Nail fungus is no joke. Unclean pedicure stations are prime breeding grounds for nail fungus, which is very difficult to cure. In any event, we wish her a speedy recovery.
