Qing Dynasty White-Jade Seal Sells for $14 Million

Qing Jade Seal

Bloomberg reports that a Qing Dynasty white-jade seal was sold for a record $12.4 million at an auction in Hong Kong. The item contains the Chinese characters for "Treasure of the Emperor Emeritus."
"The seal shows prices of top Chinese antiques are only going to rise if the economy keeps performing well," said Jacky Lin, a Hong Kong-based dealer who stopped bidding for the seal when prices reached HK$55 million. "That will make it tougher for collectors to compete for the best items."
The jade seal is from China's last feudal kingdom. The sale eclipses the record for the sale of a jade and imperial seal . The previous record of $5.4 million was set in 2007.
