The Obamas Attend Easter Services at St. John's Espiscopal Church
The Obamas attended Easter services at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. this morning. St. John's was founded on October, 1816 and has hosted every president since James Madison for Sunday services at one time or another.
So why is
St. John's so popular with presidents? Well, for one thing, it's right across the street from the White House, so it's convenient. Another draw is that the church and congregation are used to high profile visitors and are not fazed by the whole security process that goes with a presidential visit: metal detectors, security checks and the like. This is the first time the family has attended services together on Sunday since they moved into the White House: they haven't yet picked a home church. And for those who want to know, yes, they did take communion. Take a look:
