Le Whif is a new way of eating chocolate - by breathing it in. The idea was invented by Harvard professor David Edwards as a way to enjoy chocolate without consuming lots of calories. Le Whif comes in flavors: mint chocolate, raspberry chocolate, mango chocolate, and milk chocolate.
Professor Edwards says: "Over the centuries we've been eating smaller and smaller quantities at shorter and shorter intervals. It seemed to us that eating was tending toward breathing, so, with a mix of culinary art and aerosol science, we've helped move eating habits to their logical conclusion. We call it whiffing."
Most people want to enjoy their favorite foods by actually tasting them but Professor Edwards seems convinced his idea will work. Edwards also says that other culinary innovations that involve eating by breathing are being developed by the Foodlab at Le Laboratoire, Edwards' art and science innovation center in central Paris.
Le Whif can be purchased here for 3 euros a pack - about $4 U.S. With all due respect to Professor Edwards, we can't think of a better way to trigger a chocolate eating binge than inhaling the scent of chocolate. In fact, this would make a fabulous gift for someone you totally despise.
